Jorge Moscat, from the Cell Death and Survival Networks Program at the NCI-Designated Cancer Center, Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute in La Jolla (CA), US, is interested in the control of stress in cancer cells. Specifically, he tries to understand how tumours respond to situations of nutrient deprivation or to the existence of a pro-inflammatory and nutrient-rich environment. His work has focused on the role of p62 in cancer initiation and progression in mice, and this protein is being targeted therapeutically with the aim of designing better anti-cancer drugs.

He has been invited by Antonio García de los Herreros (IMIM).
