Laure Bally-Cuif, from the CNRS Research Unit "Neurobiology & Development" and the Institut de Neurobiologie Alfred Fessard in Gif-sur-Yvette Cedex, France, focuses on zebrafish neurogenetics. Her goal is to identify some of the mechanisms involved in controlling neurogenesis and neuronal specification in the embryonic and adult brain, and their influence on behaviour. She uses the model system zebrafish (Danio rerio), which offers unprecedented advantages for manipulating gene function both during development and in adulthood, where adult neural stem cells are abundant, and which is also amenable to behavioral assays.
She has been invited by Cristina Pujades (UPF).
