Alan Bergland, from the Department of Biology at Stanford University, US, seeks to understand the dynamics of the evolutionary process in response to ecologically relevant environmental variation. His research is focused on drosophilids and uses a mixture of quantitative genetics, molecular genetics and population genetics tools. In particular, he is looking into the evolution of natural populations of drosophilids over ecologically relevant temporal and spatial scales, as well as the genetic architecture of natural variation in life-history traits and life-history plasticity.

He has been invited by Pepi González (IBE).
