Leif Andersson, from the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology at Uppsala University, Sweden, uses domestic animal models to unravel the genes underlying inherited disorders and multifactorial traits. His group has recently discovered the genetic basis of the evolution of Darwin's finches and beaks. “Leif Anderson is the Carl Linnaeus of the genomics era” as recalls his host, Xavier Estivill (CRG).
