Pedro Gambús, from the Anesthesia Department and Neuroinmunology Program at Hospital CLINIC-IDIBAPS in Barcelona, uses a quantitative systems approach to study the effects of anesthetic drugs by means of high resolution data, advanced signal processing (EEG, AEP, hemodynamics, respiration) and complex data analysis, using nonlinear mixed effects modeling or fuzzy logic approaches. More recently he has started to apply the same approach - modeling, quantitation and prediction - to the study of neuroimmunologic response to surgical and anesthetic aggression. He is also analyzing data from animal experiments to demonstrate the influence of metabolic syndrome in the relation between acute and long term cognitive decline after surgery.

He has been invited by Lluís Gallart (IMIM).
