Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy: from disease mechanisms to therapy

Scientific sessions, PRBB CRG Conferences

Michael Kyba

Cancer and Cardiovascular Research, Lillehei Heart Institute. Department of Pediatrics, University of Minnesota. Minneapolis, USA

Michael Kyba, from the Lillehei Heart Institute, University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, USAis interested in understanding the molecular details of the maturation process from definitive hematopoietic stem cells to adult cells: what secreted factors specify definitive haematopoiesis, and what key differences distinguish the primitive and definitive hematopoietic stem cells. He also wishes to understand how Hox genes control stem cell self-renewal, and he is identifying regulatory circuits under Hox control. He is also trying to derive iPS cells from patients with severe muscular dystrophies.

He has been invited by Pura Muñoz-Cánoves (UPF).
