Scientific sessions, PRBB CRG Conferences

Wisia Wedzicha, from the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London, UK, has a major interest in the causes, mechanisms, impact and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations, and in the role of bacterial and viral infection in these COPD exacerbations. She identified the importance of airway colonisation and infection with both bacteria and viruses in driving innate and adaptive immune responses in the lung and contributing to disease progression through exacerbation of airway inflammation. She has been invited by Esther Barreiro (IMIM).
