The Genome Analysis Centre. Norwich Research Park, UK
Wilfried Haerty, from the Genome Analysis Centre in Norwick, UK, aims to tackle the evolution of functional elements with a specific focus on those that are non-protein-coding, as there is mounting evidence that these elements are enriched for disease and trait-associated variants . He focuses on identifying long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and characterizing their potential biological relevance and function, and the impact of mutations within these loci. He is also interested in the comparative analysis of vertebrate genomes. He has been invited by Rory Johnson (CRG).
