Taking a systems look at (Neurodegenerative) diseases

Scientific sessions, PRBB CRG Conferences

Stefan Bonn

Research Group for Computational Systems Biology, German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases. Göttingen, Germany

Stefan Bonn, from the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, Germany, uses computational and genetic tools to elucidate the dynamic gene regulatory network underlying learning and memory in healthy and diseased individuals. His group is using cell type-specific ChIP-seq (BiTS-ChIP) to elucidate how the concerted action of transcription factors and histone deacetylases (HDACs) regulate the epigenetic state of genes and their regulatory elements that are responsible for the formation of memory, and how this changes in senile dementia or disease. He has been invited by Mara Dierssen (CRG).
