Matti Nikkola

Undergraduate studies in Biomedicine at Karolinska Institutet from 1996 and to the future



On March 28, the health sciences education expert Matti Nikkola will give the talk "Undergraduate studies in Biomedicine at Karolinska Institutet from 1996 and to the future". This lecture, aimed at all teaching staff, will be focused on the current curriculum makeover with new Bachelor program that will the Karolinska Institute will launch in September 2017. Important subjects, themes and competencies will be discussed, in the context of his experience in having a Biomedicine undergraduate program since 1996, with several program generations.

Matti Nikkola is the head of the studies in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Karolinska Institute, apart from Cell Biology coordinator in Biomedicine and Medicine programs, and Biology of Development and Regenerative Medicine coordinator at the master in Biomedicine. Chair of the doctoral studies team at the Karolinska Institute, Nikkola has won several prizes for his career, among them Pedagogic prize of Karolinska Institutet in 2009, the Pedagogical prize of Biomedicine program of the same Institute in 2006 and the Pedagogic prize of Uppsala University in 1996.
