Ricardo Macarrón

Macarron is Vice President of Target and Pathway Validation in GlaxoSmithKline R&D. He served as President of the Society for Biomolecular Sciences (SBS) (2007-2008) and is Associate Editor of the Journal of Biomolecular Screening. Macarron received both his doctorate in Biochemistry (1992) and bachelor’s degree in Biology (1987) from the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain). He also holds a master’s degree in Technology Management (2006) from the University of Pennsylvania (USA). He joined GSK in 1992 and has worked since in positions of growing responsibility within the area of drug discovery (high throughput screening, biological assay development and compound management). He was invited by Juan Valcárcel and Pablo Cironi from CRG.
