Departamento de Fisiología y Farmacología, Universidad de Salamanca. Salamanca, Spain

José Miguel López Novoa, from the Departamento de Fisiología y Farmacología, Universidad de Salamanca, in Spain, is interested in the pathophysiology of renal and cardiovascular diseases. He focuses on the preclinical phase, but works for a better understanding of the pathophysiological processes in order to identify new targets and therapeutic strategies as well as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers that can be developed in the clinical stage and provide improvements for disease management. Specifically, he is working on the role of the TGFß-endoglin-ALK1 in renal and cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology, the prevention of drugs nephrotoxicity and the identification of new urinary biomarkers of renal dysfunction. He has been invited by Julio Pascual (IMIM-Hospital del Mar)
