Wouter de Laat, from the Hubrecht Institute-KNAW & University Medical Center Utrecht, Utrecht, the Netherlands, works on biomedical genomics. He is trying to understand how genome structure influences genome function. As the initiator of 4C, he develops and use this technology and other genomics approaches to identify long-range DNA interactions, study gene regulation within and between mammalian chromosomes and uncover the proteins that dictate the shape of our genome. He also studies the impact of nuclear architecture on genomic rearrangements, and develops novel strategies to identify and map chromosomal aberrations. He has been invited by Guillaume Filion (CRG).
