Genetic evidence for interbreeding between archaic and modern humans

Scientific sessions, PRBB CRG Conferences

David Reich

Department of Genetics, Harvard Medical School. Boston, USA

David Reich, from the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, is studying the impact of human evolutionary history on biology and disease. He uses the historical perspective to improve human health, for example tailoring methods for finding disease genes to populations of recently mixed ancestry, like African Americans and Latinos. He has also developed methods for using data from modern and ancient DNA to learn about population structure and mixture events, and is studying how these population mixture events may have affected human biology. He has been invited by Tomàs Marquès (UPF) and David Comas (UPF).
