Physiological and molecular determinants of maximal exercise

Scientific sessions, PRBB CRG Conferences

Peter D. Wagner

Division of Physiology, School of Medicine, University of California. La Jolla, USA

Peter D. Wagner from the University of California in San Diego, USA, will give a talk entitled “Physiological and molecular determinants of maximal exercise” next Monday, October 1 at 12h. He has been invited by Joaquim Gea (IMIM).

Wagner is interested in theoretical and experimental investigation of pulmonary gas exchange in animals and humans. He is studying the effects of O2 breathing, altitude, and exercise on lung function and the determinants of maximum O2 uptake in exercising muscle. Wagner is also interested in the role of VEGF, inflammation and HIF-1a in adaptive angiogenic responses to hypoxia, exercise, and disease.
