Neuronal circuits and computations in the olfactory system

Scientific sessions, PRBB CRG Conferences

Rainer Friedrich

Neurobiology, Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research. Basel, Switzerland

Friedrich, from the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research in Basel, Switzerland, is using the olfactory system of zebrafish as a model to study the function and development of neuronal circuits under intact and pathophysiological conditions. He monitors neuronal activity in vivo by electrophysiological recordings, voltage-sensitive dye imaging, and 2-photon calcium imaging of activity patterns across thousands of individual neurons and uses transgenic techniques to manipulate neurons. Experimental results are then integrated into models. He has been invited by Matthieu Louis (CRG).
