Department of Muscle Diseases, Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research. Cambridge, USA

David Glass, from the Department of Muscle Diseases of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research in Cambridge (MA), US, is trying to discover innovative therapies for muscle wasting and bone disorders, based on identification of novel signalling molecules regulating tissue growth. At present, he is concentrating on muscle atrophy associated with disuse (i.e. from other diseases such as cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and aging) and osteoporosis.

He has been invited by Pura Muñoz-Cánoves (UPF).
