Reprogramming cell fate via Wnt signalling activity

Scientific sessions, CRG Group Leader Seminars

Maria Pia Cosma

Reprogramming and Regeneration Group, Gene Regulation, Stem Cells and Cancer Programme, CRG

Pia Cosma is an ICREA Research Professor and Senior Scientist at CRG since September 2010. From 2003 to 2010 she was Associate Investigator at TIGEM, Naples. From 1997-2000 she was Marie Curie Post-doc at IMP, Vienna. She obtained her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Genetics from the University of Naples in 2000. She received several prizes including: EMBO Young Investigator (YIP) in 2003, Marie Curie Excellence Award in 2005 and the honor of Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2007. She is an ERC Grant awardee, 2009 and HFSP Grant awardee, 2010. She has been elected EMBO Member in 2010.

The focus of her current research is to dissect mechanisms of somatic cell reprogramming and to determine whether activation of Wnt/β-catenin signalling controls tissue regeneration by enhancing cell-fusion-mediated reprogramming.
