Oct4, the mammalian germline and the Weismann barrier

Scientific sessions, PRBB CRG Conferences

Hans Schöler

Cell and Developmental Biology, Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine. Münster, Germany

Schöler, from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, Germany, is trying to answer the question of how pluripotency develops and what mechanisms drive this process. He is focusing on the Oct 4 gene, and trying to develop methods with which the reprogramming of Oct4 (and any other required genes) can take place in a more targeted way and with as few adverse effects as possible for the patient. He has been invited by Juan Valcárcel (CRG).
