News from CEXS-UPF
Each year, the Board of Trustees of Pompeu Fabra University presents the University Social Responsibility competition, which seeks to contribute to the implementation of new initiatives in this field. This year, the project "Progressing with and for you: Scientific Coffees about Rare Diseases", led by Fina Lorente, director of the Mar campus, and Gema Revuelta, director of the Studies Center on Science, Communication and Society (CCS-UPF), has been chosen as the winner. Carolina Pozo, communication correspondent of the Mar campus, and third year student of the bachelor's degree in Human Biology (UPF), Marta Llauradó, are involved in the project organization.
"Progressing with and for you" is a tribute to all those people involved in research into rare diseases, especially the volunteers, who in most cases collaborate in research knowing that they will not benefit personally, but that their support will help future generations. Through informal meetings around a coffee, the project aims to bring together patients and scientists, as well as volunteers, family, medical personnel, patient organizations, charitable foundations, philanthropists that support the research and interested members of the general public.
