On Thursday, 7 April, took place the third session of the initiative "Progressing with and for you: Scientific Coffees about Rare Diseases". On this occasion, the central topic was genetic counseling and diagnostic techniques and it counted with the participation of Clara Serra, researcher at the Research Group of Human and Medical Genetics of DCEXS and member of CIBERER; Lluís Armengol, general director and founder of the spin off qGenomics, and Teresa Vendrell, clinical geneticist at the area of Clinical Genetics and Rare Diseases of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. The coffee also counted with the participation of Anna Ripoll, responsible for the Catalan delegation of FEDER, that moderated the session.
"Progressing with and for you" is a tribute to all those people involved in research into rare diseases, especially the volunteers, who in most cases collaborate in research knowing that they will not benefit personally, but that their support will help future generations. Through informal meetings around a coffee, the project aims to bring together patients and scientists, as well as volunteers, family, medical personnel, patient organizations, charitable foundations, philanthropists that support the research and interested members of the general public.
