News from CEXS-UPF
What might seem difficult to understand, what research doctorates do, was demystified yesterday at the end of the Rin4' competition. Organized by the Doctoral School of the UPF, it aims to promote communication skills of PhD students at Pompeu Fabra University to improve the science.
12 finalists from the 57 participants who took part in the knockout stages, presented their research in just four minutes in front of a non-specialist audience. Ten of them were from the PhD program in Biomedicine, one of the PhD program in Technologies of Information and Communications and the last one, of the PhD program of Economy, Finance and Business.
Carlos Toscano, PhD student at the Dynamical Systems Biology Lab of the DCEXS, directed by Jordi García-Ojalvo, won the first prize of 900 € and the special audience award of 200 €. His presentation "Oscillating genes and speaker bacteria" caught the attention of all attendees from the start.
