News from CEXS-UPF
Maria Luïsa Pachán's donations to the UPF have made it possible to finance doctoral scholarships and acquire cutting-edge scientific equipment, such as a DNA sequencer. She acknowledges that science was her vocation when she was young and therefore she has made three contributions to the DCEXS. Today, the philanthropist has visited our University accompanied by her circle of friends, in a tour that included a guided visit at UPF Art Track and ended with a talk given by students of Biomedical Engineering in the DCEXS. At 11:00 a.m., the group of women has entered the Ciutadella campus to enjoy the artistic heritage of UPF.
Once the artistic circuit was over, Pau Fernández, head of the UPFund sponsorship and patronage program, accompanied the visitors to the DCEXS at UPF, located in the PRBB. After being received by David Comas, director of the Department, and Fina Lorente, director of UPF's Mar campus, Pachán and her companions have attended a talk by two fourth-year students of the degree in Biomedical Engineering, Arianne Bercowsky and Guillem Torrente. The students explained their experience as participants in the iGEM Competition (International Genetically Engineered Machine) held last week in Boston.
Maria Luisa Pachán has been a member of Amics de la UPF since 2013 and makes an annual contribution to the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences for the progress of research in the field of health and life sciences.
