The epigenetic effects of alcohol consumption during pregnancy

Lídia Cantacorps, doctoral student at the DCEXS-UPF led by Olga Valverde, tells us in this article in ellipse about her latest article, where they have shown that exposure to alcohol during pregnancy and breastfeeding in mice causes epigenetic changes in the brain of the progeny. These changes have been shown for the first time to last until the adult stage.

The study has been done in a mouse model for fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). You can read Lídia's article and hear an interview to her here.
