IBE (CSIC-UPF): Inbreeding was the cause of albinism of Barcelona zoo albino gorilla "Snowflake"

Researchers at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology from the "Primate Genomics Lab" directed by Tomas Marqués-Bonet have led the study that sequenced the genome of the famous albino gorilla, a symbol of Barcelona Zoo and the city. The study, to be published in early June in the journal BMC Genomics, opens a new methodological path in the area of conservation genetics of endangered species.
