The PRBB Intervals program has become an essential part of life at the park. Since its inception in 2007 the program has evolved and adapted to the needs of the residents following trends in leadership development and scientific communication worldwide. In 2014, 29 courses were conducted with over 350 participants, most of them PhD students (51%) and postdocs (29%). Participants’ assessments of training quality were high: overall course satisfaction was 86%, quality of trainers - 93% and workshop organisation - 85%.

In 2014 some new courses were offered: Make your research viral showed participants how social networking tools can be used to communicate science and Visual science - using images and video to communicate tested participants’ creativity in using images rather than words to convey scientific concepts. A pilot program in peer mentoring supported initially by a professional coach, successfully launched the first group with seven senior women scientists, the group continues to meet regularly.
