Harnessing genetic tendencies in cancer therapy

Sessions científiques, PRBB CRG Conferences

Alan Ashworth

The Institute of Cancer Research. London, UK

Alan Ashworth, from The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London, UK, focuses on using genetic principles to understand cancer biology and then using this information to change the way patients are treated. By using genetic principles he has been able to develop a novel therapeutic strategy for cancer treatment in the form of the synthetic lethality using PARP inhibitors. Currently he is working on projects related to DNA repair genes and breast cancer, novel genes involved in breast cancer, such as PPMID, and the mechanism of tamoxifen resistance. He has been invited by José Yélamos (IMIM).
