> "Sam68: a multifunctional RNA-binding protein involved in human cancers" by Claudio Sette on October 3

PRBB-CRG Conference

Claudio Sette from the Department of Public Health and Cell Biology, University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Italy, will give a talk entitled “Sam68: a multifunctional RNA-binding protein involved in human cancers” on Friday, October 3 at 12:00 at the lecture room 300.08/350.08 of the PRBB (C/ Dr. Aiguader, 88). He was invited by Juan Valcarcel, from the CRG.

Sette is doing research on the signal transduction pathways triggered by Src in prostate cancer cells. These studies have identified Sam68 as one of the main substrates phosphorylated by Src both in prostate carcinomas and cell lines. Since Sam68 is involved in the RNA metabolism during the cell cycle and in response to the activation of signal transduction pathways by growth factors, he aims to examine the role of this protein in the androgenic response and neoplastic progression of prostatic cells.
