Arek Kasprzyk, from the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) in Toronto, Canada, will give a talk entitled “International Cancer Genome Consortium: enormous challenges ahead” on Friday March 19 at 12:00 at the lecture room 473.10 of the PRBB (C/ Dr. Aiguader, 88). He was invited by Núria López-Bigas (UPF).
Kasprzyk aims to develop visualization tools to turn raw data into meaningful information for biologists, clinicians and trainees. The technology required for cancer research has become increasingly more complex over the past several years. Accordingly, the development of innovative solutions to handle the complicated datasets has become an essential part of the cancer research process. Kasprzyk is developing large scale data integration software and he is also a leader of the BioMart Project, a query-oriented and open source data management system developed jointly by the OICR and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI). Kasprzyk was invited by Núria López-Bigas (UPF).
