Welcome to the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB)

Thank you very much for your interest. You are visiting one of the largest biomedical research clusters in Southern Europe. The PRBB, an initiative of the Government of Catalonia, the City Council of Barcelona and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), is a large scientific infrastructure that is physically connected to the ‘Hospital del Mar de Barcelona’ and that gathers together six public research centeuprs closely coordinated amongst them.

Researchers at the PRBB centres are interested in the mysteries of life and in the health problems of our society. The researchers of our centres are distinguished by their discoveries in search of answers to the current health problems, and for their contribution so that humanity can enjoy a better quality of life and be more educated. In this sense, we have multiple commitments: from generating new knowledge in the health and life sciences to the transfer of our technology and our knowledge to the enterprise world. Likewise, our activities and our laboratories are open to any person, entity or civil society that wishes to know them from the inside. While you are at it, you will walk through a very special building. Do contact us!

Another very important commitment of our centres is to train scientific personnel. It is a fact that most of the people who work here are very young, and a good percentage of the nearly one thousand people who work in the PRBB building are from abroad. In fact, there are more than thirty different nationalities, so that English is the most common language in our seminars and scientific meetings. If you are a graduate and you are interested in doing science, we invite you to navigate through the webs of the different centres, to explore the research lines of the eighty different research groups and to contact them when there are some fellowships or other job opportunities. There is a biomedical PhD program which is offered by the Pompeu Fabra University.

To those of you who visit us and are already within the scientific world, we also want to thank you for your interest. Navigating through our web you will see our main areas of research and our technological platforms. You will also be able to examine our weekly calendar of scientific seminars, to which you are always invited. Furthermore, our scientific results are public and you can use an internal search engine to explore in depth our scientific publications. We believe that this information has been obtained through public resources and therefore its circulation should not be subjected to any type of restrictions. We have also assumed collective commitments with respect to the quality of our activity and to prevent research integrity problems. In this sense we invite you to read the Code of Good Scientific Practices of the PRBB centres.

We like to say that we are a community that aims to connect diversity and science in one creative space. We are navigating towards the future, and we would like to share with you this fascinating trip.
