Carsten Janke, from the department of Signalling, Neurobiology and Cancer at the Institute Curie in Orsay, France, will give a talk entitled “Regulation of microtubule functions by posttranslational modifications” on Friday June 22 at 12:00 at the Marie Curie room of the PRBB (C/ Dr. Aiguader, 88). He was invited by Isabelle Vernos (CRG).
Janke is interested on the role of tubulin posttranslational modifications in the regulation of the functions of the microtubule cytoskeleton. Janke has discovered and characterised many of the enzymes that are involved in the catalysis of two complex tubulin modifications. He is now focusing on dissection of the molecular mechanisms that underlie the potential regulatory roles of these modifications. Janke is also working on the functional roles of tubulin modifications in cells, organism development and disease. The complexity of these modifications might provide a fine-tuning mechanism for interactions between microtubules and their binding partners, the molecular motors and MAPs.
