Molecular Mechanisms of Regeneration, Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle. Montpellier, France

Chris Jopling, from the Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle in Montpellier, France, is interested in the molecular mechanisms of regeneration. His main objective is to identify genes which regulate myocardial regeneration in zebrafish and subsequently test these in mammals. To determine suitable target genes, he uses microarray data. Once candidates have been selected and confirmed in the zebrafish model system the idea is to test these in vitro in mammalian cardiomyocytes before creating transgenic mouse models to determine whether they are capable of inducing myocardial regeneration following cardiac ischemia in mammals.

He has been invited by Ángel Raya (CMRB).
