OpenPRBB 2026: experience science up clouse

On Saturday 3 October, we're opening the doors of the PRBB. Come inside the building, visit the laboratories and scientific facilities, and find out what we're researching, how we do it, and who's behind research.

For one morning, from 10.00 to 14.00h, researchers and other professionals from the PRBB's research centres will share their day-to-day work with the public.

We invite you to enjoy a great day out, experience science first hand, explore areas not usually open to the public, discover one of the city's iconic major infraestructure projects, and chat with the people who work here.

A day to experience science up close

This year, OpenPRBB focuses on guided tours so that you can experience science up close. From 10.00 to 14.00, we look forward to welcoming you to explore the laboratories, meet the researchers working there and discover new ways to explore and experiment.

→ Guided torus: get to know the PRBB’s laboratories, facilities and spaces, meet the people who work at the Park and discover the research being carried out.

→ Science vermouth: a relaxed conversation about the future of biomedicine with researchers from the PRBB, moderated by biochemist and science communicator Pere Estupinyà. Come and enjoy a non-alcoholic vermouth and discover different ways of looking at and doing science!

→ Self-guided tour: explore science at your own pace in an open-access area with activities suitable for all ages.

→ Building a more sustainable science: give new life to the boxes of pipette tips in the laboratories by taking part in a collaborative sculpture.

→ And other activities to discover the science being carried out at the Park!

Guided tours: Discover the PRBB from the inside

Guided tours of the laboratories and scientific services will be the highlight of OpenPRBB 2026. Accompanied by a guide, you’ll begin your tour in the auditorium with a brief introduction to the Park and visit various areas, where the people working there will explain the research they’re carrying out and answer your questions.

Choose your tour

→ 1h Guided tours: visit two laboratories, departments or research facilities.

→ 1h30 Guided tours with an special or interactive experience: visit two laboratories or facilities and finish with a special or interactive activity.

→ Architectural tour: discover the PRBB building from a different perspective and learn about its architectural features.

Tours will be offered at various times throughout the day. We’ll soon be publishing the timetables and the areas each tour will cover.

No prior scientific knowledge is required. The aim is precisely to see, ask questions and understand science alongside those who practise it every day.

How to get your ticket?

On Saturday 3 October, tickets will be available without prior booking. Come along even if you haven’t booked! You’ll be able to choose from the routes and times available on the day.

If you’d prefer to plan ahead, you can book your ticket from 23 September at 12 noon on EventBrite.

Whether you’ve booked in advance or are picking up your ticket on the day, please remember to pop into the registration tent 30 minutes before the tour starts to collect your pass.

Access to guided tours

Adults and children aged 12 and over may take part in the guided tours, provided they are accompanied by an adult. Children under the age of 1 may also take part if they are carried in an adult’s arms or in a baby carrier. Pushchairs must be left at the cloakroom at the information point.

An accessible route (without stairs) will be available for people with reduced mobility. We will provide details of this route shortly.

How to get to the PRBB?

The PRBB building is situated at 88 Dr Aiguader Street, 08003 Barcelona. It is in an excellent location within the city, with good transport links by both public and private transport.

The building can be accessed either via the main reception on Carrer del Dr. Aiguader, on the Ronda Litoral side, or via the inner square, entering from the seafront promenade through Charles Darwin Square.
